An old man of fortune wanted to test the commonsense of his three sons who were living apart. He gave each of them an equal sum of money. He told them that they were free to buy anything they desired. But there was one condition. The articles which they bought should fill their houses. The old man further said that he would visit them on a particular day to see how they fared.
The old man accordingly visited the houses of his sons. One son had filled his house with bundles of hay. The second son had spent all the money on a few valuables. The third son entertained his father with a sweet smile. A nice lamp was shedding its light all over the house. The house had all the grace of fullness. The father smiled. It was a smile of approval.
