I listen to the morning sounds,
as sun beams through my window,
A bathing cascade of luminosity,
drawing me out,
A warm invisible force
As nature shines in delight.
My cat is loving it too,
each of us preening,
our feline natures
purring with content.
She smooches me a little,
loving it as well as me,
as cats will do,
Caught in the moment
as I identify a squeak,
which I could have sworn
was a branch knocking at my window;
But not as a raven knocks,
Nothing ominous here today.
The washing machine again;
I should have known,
But silence is not so silent at all
when one is alone,
and many new sounds
enter my consciousness.
I hear the kettle’s frantic bubbling,
thought of a coffee reward
overcomes my desire
to stay idly with my random thoughts,
Motivation moves me melancholically
to the kitchen as sun's rays beam through
the leadlight panels of our old home.
Little rainbow prisms
dance about the room,
enchanting me with wonder
in the special moment of now;
Life's good!
