With increasing pollution levels, it has become important for us to be on our toes and take all the necessary measures to minimise the damaging effects of smog.
Taking a holistic approach to fight this apocalyptic level of pollution is really important. Along with taking preventive measures like wearing a mask when you head out of using an air purifier, it is important to incorporate a diet that's healthy for your lungs and other organs that have a higher risk of getting affected.
Here are some foods that you can easily find in your household pantry and can help you combat this deteriorating pollution:

Turmeric: Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties that can provide relief from lung infections, cough, phlegm and other toxic effects of pollution. It is also rich in phytonutrients that protects the body by neutralising free radicals. Drinking turmeric tea or turmeric milk mixed daily is very benefical.
Jaggery: Jaggery is rich in iron that improves the haemoglobin level in the blood, which in turn increases the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood. It also helps to get rid of breathing issues, sore throat, lung infection that occurs due to pollution. You can make jaggery tea, jaggery milk, jaggery smoothie, etc.
Dry fruits: Consuming dry fruits can help you boost your immunity, they are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that can provide nutrients to your body. You can add dry fruits in your smoothies, oatmeals or you can munch on them as a snack.
Citrus fruits: These fruits are a rich source of Vitamin C and antioxidants, which helps in boosting the immune system and protects your body from adverse effects of air pollution. Eat more oranges, lemons, and grapefruits.
